The history of the hospital dates back to the mid-1920s, when a primary care building was opened at the Sheremetev estate. Since 1929, when the current building was built, the hospital has become known as the Kremlin Hospital and treated many Soviet leaders, including Joseph Stalin, Georgy Zhukov, Kliment Voroshilov, Semyon Budyonny, Leonid Brezhnev, and others. The ongoing active refurbishment of the Hospital of the Administrative Directorate of the President on Romanov Lane aims to adapt all four storeys of the legendary healthcare institution to modern needs. In Building A, dismantling works have so far covered the flooring, old partitions, reinforced concrete slabs, utility systems, radon baths, the unsafe and dilapidated pediment, roofing, and lifts.
