About project

The Annino landfill operated for 40 years, from 1976 to 2016, accumulating over 900,000 tonnes of waste. A large-scale remediation project began in 2019 and was completed ahead of schedule.

The total site area was 7 ha, including 2 ha added in the course of works as the landfill body extended beyond the site boundaries.

MSU-1 GC built 9,000 m2 of roads and brought in 60,000 tonnes of soil to construct a 35 m hill. Other activities included drilling 11 passive gas collection wells in the landfill body and reinforcing the slopes with gabion walls.
