MSU-1 GC will remediate the municipal solid waste landfill in Zheleznogorsk, Kursk Region, in a RUB 1.85 billion project. The business daily Kommersant featured the news, citing the local Committee for Natural Resources.

MSU-1 GC was contracted as a single-source supplier in line with the applicable federal law and the corresponding resolution of the regional government On Public Procurement of Goods, Works, and Services for State and/or Municipal Needs from a Single-Source Supplier (Contractor, Provider) and the Procurement Procedure, announced the Committee for Natural Resources.

The Kursk Region authorities announced the start of landfill remediation at the end of last week. According to Vice Governor Alexey Dedov, preparation works at the landfill were complete, with leachate collected and removed from the lake and a reservoir built for collecting surface runoff.

“In fact, 25.9% of the three-year total scope of works is done. We expect to finish everything by 2024,” said Konstantin Polyakov, head of the Committee for Natural Resources.

In spring, the Moscow-based company Geosintetika was set to perform the landfill remediation works, becoming the only tender participant. However, on the final day of the tender, Geosintetika was added to the register of unfair suppliers as it had not delivered on a contract to remediate the Yadrovo landfill in the Moscow Region. For this reason, the Kursk authorities did not sign a contract with the company.
