Starting October 1, the airport in Yoshkar-Ola will suspend flights in connection with the reconstruction of the runway.
The project provides reconstruction of the taxiway, construction of a new building for command and control center, the parking area of aircraft, a platform for processing aircraft with de-icing liquid, drainage network facilities, surface runoff treatment facilities and other infrastructure.
The current artificial coating has defects that do not meet aviation requirements. The overhaul will remove the existing flight restrictions.
The head of the Mari El Republic, Yuri Zaitsev, noted that the runway reconstruction will allow receiving mainline aircrafts with a capacity of 80-200 people, attracting larger airlines and expanding the number of flights in an affordable price category.
Reconstruction will be carried out as a part of a new airport complex construction. Its completion is scheduled for November 2027.
