A school for 2,200 students will open in a housing development in Odintsovo, Moscow Region, by 1 September. Today, a childcare centre opened ahead of schedule in the same housing development, according to the Moscow Region Governor and Government Press Service.

The Governor of the Moscow Region visited the housing development and talked to local residents on Monday.

In Gusarskaya Ballada, we first dealt with the defrauded buyers, now we are focusing on the social infrastructure. The childcare centre opened ahead of schedule, kids arrived there today. Another project is a school for 2,200 students, where construction is in full swing; it will be ready by 1 September,” said Andrey Vorobyov, cited in the announcement.

According to the press service, there are no schools in the housing development right now. The construction of the educational institution began a year and a half ago; at the moment, it is 53% complete. In addition to classrooms, the four-storey building will also include blocks for after-school activities with playrooms and dormitories, an assembly hall with art rooms for 600 people, and a library with an IT zone. The school will have two separate entrances for the elementary and high school kids. In front of the main entrance, there will be an assembly site for school-wide events, while a barrier-free environment will be created for children with disabilities.

As promised, the childcare centre was completed ahead of schedule, and now we are building one of the largest schools in the Moscow Region – with capacity for 2,200 students. At the moment, we have 326 people on the construction site working on internal utilities, façades, and finishing. Our technology enables construction times to be accelerated in any weather,” said Ilya Demidov, Deputy CEO of MSU-1 GC, cited in the announcement.

According to the press service, the childcare centre opened on Monday has spaces for 400 children. Earlier, the housing development had two centres that were designed for 260 children but were actually attended by twice as many children. The new childcare centre is located next to the school that is still under construction, and together they will form a single education cluster. By the end of the year, there will be another new childcare centre for 110 children.

The next social infrastructure facility on the list is a polyclinic... a highly advanced healthcare facility designed for 500 visits per shift, with all necessary equipment meaning you will not have to go to central Odintsovo. The polyclinic will also welcome patients from Lesnoy Gorodok, where about 14,000 people live,” added Andrey Vorobyov.

In 2014, the construction of Gusarskaya Ballada in Odintsovo was frozen due to funding issues, with the contractor failing to deliver some houses on time. The Moscow Region Government found a new investor, and two years later, construction resumed, with all tower blocks completed. However, the housing development lacks social infrastructure facilities and has no healthcare facilities. The Governor instructed the region’s government to solve the social infrastructure issues “literally case by case”, the press service noted.
